Viking's Model VK481 Standard Spray Concealed Horizontal Sidewall Sprinkler is designed for installation on concealed pipe systems in light and ordinary hazard occupancies. The sprinkler is cULus Listed (Quick Response) and FM Approved (Standard Response). The VK481 is hidden from view by a flat cover plate, providing an enhanced aesthetic solution for any area with a light or ordinary hazard classification. The VK481 cover plate, which is the same cover plate used for the VK480 and VK680 sprinklers, is offered in a standard white finish and is available in temperature ratings of 135°F (57°C) and 165°F (74°C). The 5.6 (81) K-factor VK481 has a ½ in (15 mm) NPT thread size and is available in 165°F (74°C) and 205°F (96°C) temperature ratings. The VK481 FM Approval makes it well-suited for college residence halls and dormitories, where the water savings of standard sprinkler spacing is often preferred over extended coverage sprinklers. The flat, low-profile cover plate also makes it more difficult to hang anything from the sprinkler, reducing the potential for accidental sprinkler discharge.
